The TEM Wedge Polisher is used to thin materials to electron transparency for TEM observation. Wedge polishing provides a large, electron-transparent area in one dimension, making it ideal for semiconductors, and it allows simultaneous preparation of multiple interfaces (i.e., thin films/superconductors). The two rear micrometer heads are used to create radial or axial (wedge) angles in the sample, while the front micrometer head provides support when observing samples on an inverted microscope. Non-rotating micrometer heads are available to eliminate faceting of Delrin feet.

The TEM thinning fixture is attached using a cam-locking system (no tools needed), allowing quick, easy fixture removal for sample inspection and exact repositioning throughout the polishing procedure. The hand-held polisher is lightweight and features grip dimples on either side of the tool for greater control.
